The OneTouch UltraMini has got to be one of the best little machines on the market. It is simple to use and comes in a variety of colors. I actually have four of these little guys.
Because of their size I keep one in my car, one next to my bed, one at work, and one in my backpack. The name really suites them, because one touch is typically all you need for activating it, and testing is usually done in less than 5 seconds.
Something else I like, is that for an additional fee, you can buy the USB cable and software to download your meter information to your computer, so that you have a record of your progress at home. Another thing that I really love about this meter is that it gives you Alternate Testing capabilities. What does this mean? Well like traditional meters, you have the option of testing on your finger. However, with The OneTouch UltraMini, you have the ability to test on your forearm or other location. This meter comes with an adapter on the lance gun, that elevates it to about an inch up from the skin so that it barely pricks the surface. This Alternate Testing ability helps to cut down on the painful jabbing of your fingers.
Also, many insurances cover this meter free of charge. You can also buy The OneTouch UltraMini at places like Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, and Rite Aid. Some local Pharmacy's carry them too. Typically you can find them right under $40. Wal-Mart.com sells them for $11.32 + $0.97 shipping to any of their stores. The great thing about getting it from Wal-Mart is that you can purchase your testing strips there too. A box of 25 strips will only run you about $29.92 on Wal-Mart.com.
Rather you are a first time user or a seasoned veteran when it comes to testing your blood sugar levels, I highly recommend this meter.
