So many times we get caught up in the meaning of words, that they can sometimes leave a bad taste in your mouth. Diet is one of those words, that for many cause fear, anguish, and loathing. Well by making words into acronym's we can give words that cause us discomfort and put a play on them. Diet is one that many people hate, because it invokes a feeling of loss and restriction. But by using it as an acronym you now have "Delight In Eating Thoughtfully" a phrase coined by a friend (SeaGator) over at Tudiabetes.org
Makes it kinda cute and fuzzy right? But what does it mean? It means take a few minutes to think about what you are shoveling into your face. Could that doughnut be replaced with some yogurt, or maybe even a piece of fruit? Becoming mindful of what we are eating is hard to do, because we are a society of fast food, and fast service. We reach for our favorite junk foods, or 'comfort' foods which are no where near the same area code of healthy.
So I am now going to take this acronym into consideration, and try to live by it and hopefully it will allow me to focus on those changes that I am looking to make in my life.
