I attended the Jefferson Health Care Diabetes Symposium today and I must say I had a lot of fun. First off my hat is off to Amber Benner CDERN for organizing such a terrific event.
The whole event started at 9 o’clock with a welcome introduction and a brochure of where events were taking place throughout the hospital. The first place that I went was to see the venders.
I was excited to see what new gizmos and gadgets they had come out with because, well I’m just nerdy that way.
My first stop was to the Bayer Representative named Daryl, who was by far one of the most entertaining and knowledgeable people when it came to his products. I was told by my Diabetes Educator to seek him out as he is the one who has been the third party in getting me some of my toys (i.e. The Didget and The Bayer ContourUSB)
We had a wonderful Q&A session as he was asking me about key points in the products and I was asking him about future upgrades and possibilities of newer products. He took notes on some of the suggestions that I had, and even confirmed some of the ideas that I had which he said were already in the making, which I was super happy to hear about. And he made the promise to pass new toys along in the future.
I also got some great information about Pump Therapy which I was really excited about, and really confirmed my wanting to test it out.
I also got the meet up with a Foot Specialist who inspected my feet and legs, and gave me some news that was a little disturbing. She said that my feet looked good, but that I had to do something about the calluses, and that it looks as if I have blood/liquid pooling in my legs and suggested that I see my doctor about it.
I had a lot of fun, and totally look forward to doing this again. If you didn’t have a chance to check it out I really recommend it again.
Great site, thanks for the encouragement mike!
