Lantus is one of the insulin's that I use to help me control my diabetes. I use to use the standard vial like this. These little vials are great, but really inconvenient to travel with. Also using these you have to use the 50-100mm syringes which felt like they were a railroad spike being pushed through my skin.
I use to have to take large dosages of Lantus (180 units 2-3 x's a day) but now my Doctors have me on 60 units 2 x's a day. Having to use the traditional syringes though left huge bruises on me.
I now use the Lantus SoloStar Pen which is 100 times easier to transport, and comes with Needle Caps that are much much smaller and hurt less than the traditional syringes. Also where you would have 6 boxes of vials in the refrigerator, you can now have 1 box with 5 or 6 pens in it.
If you have medical insurance your doctors should be able to switch you over to these. You will be seriously happy with them. I keep one of these pen's everywhere.
